Celebrating the Wins — and Looking Ahead to a New Year on the Trails

Hello friends,

As we step into a brand-new year, I find myself reflecting on just how far Everybody on Trails has come — and feeling deeply excited about where we’re headed next.

Starting this nonprofit has been a whirlwind journey, filled with learning curves, challenges, joy, and countless moments that reaffirm why this work matters so much. Rather than rushing past the last year, I want to pause and celebrate the wins, the community, and the life-changing experiences that continue to shape this organization.

Our First Steps on the Trail

Everybody on Trails began with something simple: monthly meetups at different trail locations across Utah. Some months we had five people, some twenty — but every single person who showed up reinforced something powerful: the outdoors truly are for everybody.

Along the way, we’ve been fortunate to partner with incredible organizations like Compassion Mobility, who we absolutely love. Their support helped me personally return to the trails with my mobility scooter after a complicated pregnancy and birth. As someone with cerebral palsy and a mom to two girls, having safe and reliable access to the outdoors means everything. Compassion Mobility made that possible, and it’s a gift to work alongside partners who truly believe in accessible adventure.

Granting Freedom Through Equipment

This past year marked a major milestone for Everybody on Trails — we awarded our very first equipment grant. Debbi received a handcycle that gave her the confidence and independence to get back on the trails, and witnessing that moment was incredibly powerful.

As we move forward into this new year, we’re thrilled to celebrate another exciting step: Hayli, our first youth equipment grant recipient. Thanks to the amazing team at Utah Trikes, Hayli will soon receive a custom trike that opens up a whole new world of outdoor access and exploration.

These moments are exactly why Everybody on Trails exists.

Our Challenges — and Our Big Dreams

Like many growing nonprofits, we’ve faced real challenges, especially when it comes to fundraising. Growth takes resources, and our vision extends far beyond a single equipment grant each year.

Looking ahead, we want to:

  • Provide more outdoor mobility equipment to individuals who need it

  • Travel across Utah to help more people access trails, national parks, and adaptive gear

  • Connect families and individuals with equipment that empowers them to get outside and thrive

This new year represents possibility — and the opportunity to grow this impact even further.

How You Can Be Part of the Journey

There are so many ways to support Everybody on Trails as we move into this next chapter:

  • Donate outdoor gear, like hiking shoes, to help someone take their first steps on a trail

  • Become a sponsor or donor to help fund future equipment grants

  • Collaborate with us if you’re a business passionate about accessible outdoor experiences

  • Join our events — or share them with others if you’re not local

  • Wear and share one of our shirts to help spread the message

Every action, big or small, helps create more opportunities for EVERYBODY to get outside.

Thank You — and Here’s to What’s Ahead

From my family to yours, thank you for believing in this mission. Thank you for showing up, sharing our story, giving what you can, and helping build a world where the outdoors are accessible to all.

Here’s to a new year filled with more trails, more connection, and more adventures — and to continuing this journey together.

With gratitude,

Amanda Powell
